It was a hot summer day, and Elmer was working behind the counter at the grocery store. He was bored and tired, and he just wanted to go home. But then, he saw it. It was a beautiful apple, sitting on the top shelf of the produce section. The apple was so red and shiny, and it looked so delicious.
Elmer couldn't resist. He reached up and took the apple off the shelf. He took a big bite, and the juice ran down his chin. The apple was the most delicious thing he had ever tasted.
But as soon as he finished eating the apple, Elmer felt strange. He felt dizzy and lightheaded, and his heart started to race. He tried to stand up, but he collapsed to the ground.
When Elmer woke up, he was in the hospital. The doctors told him that he had been poisoned by the apple. The apple had been sprayed with a pesticide that was harmful to humans.
Elmer was furious. He couldn't believe that someone would do something so cruel. He wanted revenge.
Elmer went to the police and reported the incident. The police investigated, but they couldn't find any evidence of who had poisoned the apple. Elmer was disappointed, but he didn't give up.
Elmer decided to take matters into his own hands. He went to the grocery store and bought another apple. He took the apple home and put it in a jar. He filled the jar with water and sealed it shut.
Every day, Elmer would go to the jar and look at the apple. He would curse the apple and the person who had poisoned it. He would vow to get revenge.
As the days turned into weeks, Elmer's obsession with the apple grew. He started to neglect his job and his family. He became withdrawn and antisocial. He spent all of his time thinking about the apple.
One day, Elmer's wife couldn't take it anymore. She went to the jar and threw the apple away. Elmer was furious. He chased his wife around the house, screaming at her.
Elmer's wife ran out of the house and called the police. The police came and arrested Elmer. He was charged with assault and battery.
Elmer was convicted and sentenced to prison. He served his time, but he never forgot about the apple. He vowed to get revenge on the person who had poisoned it.
When Elmer was released from prison, he went back to the grocery store. He found the manager and confronted him. He accused the manager of poisoning the apple. The manager denied it, but Elmer didn't believe him.
Elmer pulled out a gun and shot the manager. The manager was killed instantly.
Elmer was arrested and charged with murder. He was convicted and sentenced to death. He was executed in the electric chair.
The Aggravation of Elmer Robert Arthur is a cautionary tale about the dangers of giving in to temptation and the importance of self-control. Elmer was a good man who was driven to the brink of madness by an apple. He let his desire for revenge consume him, and it ultimately led to his downfall.
