Web search and recommendation systems are essential for our daily lives. They help us find information, products, and services that we need. However, these systems are often complex and opaque, making it difficult for users to understand how they work and why they make the recommendations they do. This lack of interpretability can lead to several problems, including:
- Difficulty debugging and improving the systems
- Reduced trust in the systems
- Bias and discrimination against certain groups of users
XAI is a rapidly growing field of research that aims to develop methods for making AI systems more interpretable. This workshop will provide a forum for researchers and practitioners to share their latest work on XAI for web search and recommendation. The workshop will also explore the challenges and opportunities for XAI in this domain.
Workshop Topics
The workshop will cover a wide range of topics related to XAI for web search and recommendation, including:
- Techniques for explaining the predictions of web search and recommendation systems
- Methods for evaluating the interpretability of web search and recommendation systems
- Applications of XAI to improve the design and evaluation of web search and recommendation systems
- Challenges and opportunities for XAI in the domain of web search and recommendation
Important Dates
- Paper submission deadline: March 15, 2024
- Notification of acceptance: April 15, 2024
- Camera-ready paper deadline: May 15, 2024
